While the formal merger is still in process, Abraham House and Thrive For Life have been working closely together as seamless partners to deliver a comprehensive continuity of care to our returning brothers continuing the good work of education. Founded in 1993 by Rikers Island Catholic Prison Chaplains in response to the high recidivism rate and lack of effective rehabilitative services they witnessed in New York City jails; Abraham House began as an innovative Alternative to Incarceration Program. All care given is provided by Abraham House caregivers who are thoroughly trained to provide the best possible care. The program has both aresidential and non-residential component. To graduate, the criminal justice involved must meetthe requirements of the judicial system as well as Abraham House’s internalpolicies and guidelines. The program fights the high rate of recidivism bypreparing the criminal justice involved for the day they will rejoin society.

We brought our mother to you and you showed us the way to being her home! There is not enough words for the love you showed our family. I have never been more grateful than for all of you there at Abraham House. The last week of my sweet Daddy’s life was made so peaceful and comforting by each and every one of you. I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate all you did to help me and him. The care is fantastic and the house is really lovely.

With the ability to host multiple families at once, both Abraham House locations are able to provide accommodations to out of town family members, long time spouses, etc who request to stay temporarily at the home.
